I have always been passionate about giving back.

As a kid, my mother took me to the Jewish Home for the Aged, where I played the piano weekly for residents. I was also paired with an elderly woman, who openly spoke with me about life, family, and more.

Priscilla Garrett is the Integrated Care Manager for Kadima’s Integrated Health Care Initiative, launched in 2016 and made possible by a $205,500 three-year grant from The Jewish Fund. She joined Kadima as a direct care worker in 2013 and was promoted upon completion of her board certification in 2016.

As I started my last post right at the start of day one, without a clue of what I was in for, with four weeks of experience, I am still learning my way around. One thing I can say with absolute certainty is every single day is truly unpredictable. If you are anything like me, who has the attention span of a young child, unpredictable experiences are highly valued.

Please allow me to introduce myself, I’m Amanda, and I’m a senior from Michigan State University. You’ll get to know me really well over the next few weeks as I chronicle my experiences as the JOIN intern here at Kadima.

Perhaps the best place to start: my first day at Kadima. Heading in to work that day I felt like a fish out of water.
